Nets relinquish 18-point lead to Cavs without Mitchell, Hunter



The Cleveland Cavaliers didn't have Donovan Mitchell or De'Andre Hunter there to save them, but in the end, they had enough to get past Brooklyn. 

Despite leading by as many as 18 points, the Cavs chipped away at the lead until taking it for good midway through the fourth quarter.

Darius Garland proved to be unstoppable down the stretch with 30 points and 8 assists while Jarrett Allen added 23 points and 13 boards. 

Cam Thomas dropped 17 points, but shot just 4 of 13 in the second half after a hot start. The Cavs punished the Nets in the paint for 52 points to win their fifteenth consecutive game. 

Brooklyn takes on Chicago on Thursday at the United Center. 

Brooklyn back on winning track as it knocks off short-handed Lakers



 Without LeBron James, Rui Hachimura, Dorian Finney-Smith and Max Christie, the Nets capitalized on an advantageous situation and escaped with a 111-108 victory on Monday night. 

Luka Doncic had 22, but without much of their offensive and defensive firepower, the Lakers came up short.

Noah Clowney  paced Brooklyn with 19 and Keon Johnson added 18. 

Brooklyn finally snapped an elongated 17 game losing streak to pull back to within five losses back of Chicago for the final play-in spot.

No rest for the wicked as Brooklyn travels to Cleveland tomorrow night. 

Nets losing streak reaches seven with ugly last second loss to Hornets, 105-102



Even a winnable game the Nets couldn't manage to come out on the positive side.

Brooklyn squandered a 17-point lead with Miles Bridges blocking Cam Thomas on a potential go ahead layup in the closing seconds. 

Trendon Watford heaved up a desperation potential game tying 3-pointer that clanged off the back iron at the buzzer.

The dropped their seventh straight contest to fall to 21-42 on the season and a dismal .250 winning percentage. 

Things don't get any easier as the Nets host the Lakers Monday, followed by a trip to Cleveland Tuesday for a back to back. 


Curry's 40 powers GS to 121-119 comeback win in Brooklyn



The Nets had not allowed a 40-point scorer all season, until Thursday. 

Curry lit up a Barclays Center crowd that was filled with blue and gold No. 30 jerseys. 

Despite leading 35-15 after the first quarter, the Warriors outscored Brooklyn 40-25 in the second to climb back into it. Curry capped the first half surge by sinking a half court buzzer beater. 

The Warriors nearly gave the game up in the end with lackluster plays and turnovers but ultimately survived the Nets late-game charge.

Cam Johnson led the Nets with 26 and Cam Thomas 23 in the losing effort.

Nets fall to Spurs 127-113




 Cam Thomas had 24 end Cam Johnson 17 as Brooklyn fell to San Antonio. 

The Spurs shot 54.7 percent from the field and 46.2 percent from 3-point range.

Without Webmanyama, San Antonio scored 62 points in the paint and were led by Devin Vassell's 37.

Brooklyn dropped its fifth in a row and will look to get right on Thursday back home at Barclay Center against the Golden State Warriors. 

Nets stall out in the Motor City 115-94

 


Tyrese Martin led all Nets scorers with 23 points in Detroit on Saturday night as they fell by 21 points. 

Brooklyn looked mostly listless except for a strong run in the third quarter When they outscored the Pistons 34-19 to to take a huge chunk out of the deficit and make it a six-point game. 

From there, Cade Cunningham and company took over. 

Brooklyn travels to San Antonio on Tuesday night to take on De'Aaron Fox and the San Antonio Spurs. 

Portland surges past Brooklyn 121-102



 Cam Thomas returned to the lineup for Brooklyn, but that did not result in the Nets producing a win. Thomas dumped in 16 points as did Nic Claxton and Killian Hayes, but it wasn't enough. 

The Nets shot an abysmal 7 of 29 from three-point range. 

The lead was cut to a single figure deficit after three quarters of play, but then Brooklyn was outscored 30-20 in the final frame. 

The Nets take on the red-hot Pistons on Saturday night. Looking to get back on the winning track. 

Thunder strikes in second half as OKC erases 18-point deficit in Brooklyn



 The Nets jumped out to a 30-12 first quarter lead in what many thought would be a cushion that would likely vanish sooner than later. 

Surprisingly, Brooklyn maintained a sizeable advantage of 76-61 at the halftime buzzer. 

By the end of the third quarter, the Thunder trailed 96-90. If was in the final frame where the real headway was made for Oklahoma City where it outscored Brooklyn, 39-25.

Nic Claxton was suspended for Wednesday's game after collecting his sixth technical foul of the season on Monday at the Wizards. Day'Ron Sharpe started in his place and enjoyed a monster game with 25 points, 15 rebounds and 5 assists, while shooting 8 of 10 from the field and 2 of 3 from 3-point range. 

The Nets set a new franchise record with 61 attempts from beyond the arc. Killian Hayes had a breakout game with 19 points and 7 assists and Cam Johnson tallied the exact same stat line.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the charge for the Thunder with 27 and Aaron Wiggins added 24.

The Nets host the Trailblazers Friday looking to snap a two game skid and climb closer to the final play-in spot as they trail Chicago by 1.5 games. 

Nobody on the Nets can beat the Wiz



 The Washington Wizards have been the Nets' kryptonite this season.  Brooklyn has lost both meetings with the NBA's worst team record-wise. 

Jordan Poole carved up the Nets defense on Monday with 26 points, while Bilal Coulibaly added 20. Zaire Williams paced Brooklyn with 19 and Cam Johnson dumped in 17.

In his second game since being called-up from the G-league's Long Island Nets, Killian Hayes scored 7 points and dished out eight assists. 

Brooklyn shot a dismal 39.3 percent from the field and largely failed to capitalize on Washington's whopping 24 turnovers.

The Nets lead 97-96 with 3:14 remaining in the game and were outscored 11-2 for the rest of the contest. 

Brooklyn lost yet again to the team with the worst record in the NBA and on Wednesday will welcome the team with the league's second -best record, the Oklahoma City Thunder, to Barclays. 

Nic Claxton's put back at the buzzer beats Philly to push Nets into play-in mix



 If the Brooklyn Nets were supposed to be losing this season, they're doing a bad job of it lately. 

Nic Claxton's put back sealed a victory for Brooklyn in Philadelphia on Saturday night. 

Playing without D'Angelo Russell, Brooklyn didn't miss a beat against the 76ers. Cam Johnson led the way with 23 points, while Claxton added 19 points and six boards. 

The Nets shot just 7 of 28 from 3-point range in the City of Brotherly Love, but still earned their seventh win in nine tries.

Brooklyn is now tied in the loss column with Chicago for the final play-in spot.

The pro-tanking crowd is shrinking back into their caves, while the Nets are facing the NBA league worst Wizards in the Nation's capital on Monday looking to move further to the Eastern Conference standings.

Brooklyn closes to within one game of play-in with 100-96 win over Philly

 


The Brooklyn Nets won their twentieth game of the season before the All-Star break after many oddsmakers pinned the Nets at less than 19 wins for the entire season. 

The Nets have now won six out of the past seven games and in all six wins they held their opponents under 100 points. 

Jordi Fernandez and crew had a scare late in the game when the Nets coach pulled his starters only to see Philadelphia close a 10 point gap to just four points within the last minute. 

D'Angelo Russell had 22 points and Trendon Watford dumped in 18. Brooklyn out-rebounded Philadelphia 50-38 as the Sixers were playing without Tyrese Maxey and Joel Embiid. 

The Nets are now in the play-in mix as they enter the All-Star break.
